Memorial Day

Observed on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day is an American federal holiday that commemorates the men and women who have laid down their lives in wars while serving the U.S military. This holiday originated after the Civil War to honor the soldiers who were killed while serving the country during the war and was then, known as Decoration Day. No longer limited to only the soldiers of the American Civil War, Memorial Day now honors all those who have died serving the country in various wars. This day is also unofficially marks the onset of summer.
