What are Fine Motor Skills?
Fine motor skills require the use of small muscles, usually in coordination with the eyes. Well-developed fine motor skills are crucial because we use them to perform important functions such as writing, using a computer and tying shoelaces or buttoning up clothing. These skills develop along with your child’s physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. These often-overlooked skills are the foundation your child needs to be able to grasp a pencil or any other writing instrument and write legibly by hand.
