Valentine’s Day Heart Wreath Craft
There are a variety of traditions that surround the Valentine’s Day holiday. When your kids are in school, they might be passing around Valentine’s Day grams, or they could even give their friends festive chocolates and candy. You might even consider helping your child decorate their desks at home. Have you ever given thought to decorating your whole house for the festive Valentine’s Day holiday? Here is a fun and “heartfelt” wreath to celebrate this special day.
Materials you will need:
- Sheet of 8 ½” by 11” paper in red and pink colors (cardstock, construction paper, etc.)
- Scissors
- Stapler
- Ruler
Directions:
- Cut out 4 strips of paper. These strips need to be 1 inch wide and 8 ½ inches long. You will need 4 strips of pink paper and 4 strips of red paper.
- Fold each of your strips of paper in half, and crease it at the fold. Cut along the crease of your fold so you cut your strips of paper in half.
- Stack four of these strips together; sandwich two pink strips of paper between two red strips of paper, as shown in the image.
- Pull the two, outer red strips of paper away from the group to form a heart.
- Sandwich this heart with two strips of pink paper, and staple these together.
- Continue to follow this method, alternating between red and pink strips of paper.
- Once you have gotten to the end, you must connect the ends to create a wreath, as shown in the image. Form both ends into a heart, and staple them together to form the wreath.
- You can use a nail to hang this Valentine’s Day wreath up, or you could even use some festive ribbon.
