Lady Bug Paper Plate Hat
Paper hats are a staple in any parents’ crafting adventures. The craft described in this article can be mixed and matched in different ways, and there is no need to only stick to a lady bug hat. Ask your child for ideas on what types of insects or animals they want to create through this paper plate hat. For now, however, here are the steps to making this cute lady bug hat.

Materials You Will Need:
- Large paper plates
- Black paint and paint brushes
- Red construction paper
- Plastic eyes
- Glue
- Scissors
- Pen
Directions:
- Using the pen, puncture a hole in the middle of the paper plate. Use this hole to cut out the center of the plate using your scissors.
- After the center has been cut out from the paper plate, flip the plate over and paint the bottom of the plate black.
- Take the red construction paper and cut out two large semicircles.
- Paint black spots on the two large red semicircles.
- Glue the plastic eyes to the edge of the painted paper plate.
- Apply glue to the edge of the center of the paint paper plate, and place the red semicircles on the plate (place them slightly apart from each other so there is room for your child’s head come through).
This lady bug paper plate craft is fun, and it can also be used as a learning opportunity. Take the time to teach your little learner about lady bugs and how they function, and perhaps even throw in a math lesson about semicircles.
