How to Get Involved this Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving has the unfortunate fate of getting sandwiched somewhere between Halloween costumes and Christmas trees. It’s difficult to get kids involved in the festival as it doesn’t have many kid friendly rewards to offer. However, Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to give thanks and serve your community. Involve the kids this year and teach them about the value of giving to others and the importance of social service. Here are a few useful ways for Moms to get involved in community service this Thanksgiving.
Soup Kitchen

Check your newspapers or do research on the internet for a good Thanksgiving soup kitchen in your area. Connect with them to find out what they might need you to do or check with them to see how you might be able to help. If you agreed to volunteer your time to a soup kitchen and help them out, then be prepared to do anything – set up the service area, collect the food, help those coming into the soup kitchen and provide them with places, make deliveries, etc. Remember, a soup kitchen is not just about cooking and serving, it’s also about connecting with those who need you the most.

There are a few non-profit organizations who deliver Thanksgiving dinner to the needy and destitute. Most of the time, they are happy to have an extra helping hand - as a delivery person, an additional driver, or any other role that needs filling. If you want to take philanthropy to the next level, feel free to look up such organizations on the internet.
Fundraisers
Around Thanksgiving, there are several fundraisers that are organized to raise money to help families in need. If you cannot afford tickets to such Thanksgiving events, try to volunteer so that you can do your part on Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Dinners

Keep others in mind this Thanksgiving by volunteering to host the Thanksgiving dinner and cook up a nice and sumptuous turkey meal for everybody. The gesture might not be about saving or donating money, but it is about offering the person you love a day’s break from the usual routine and hard work.
These ideas are just a few of the ways to get involved this Thanksgiving and make a difference. Don’t be scared to step out of your comfort zone and get creative with the ways that you choose to help those around you.
