Let the kids make:

Heart finger prints –

Kids love painting with their fingers. Besides, finger painting is a helpful activity to help early development too. Buy a canvas from a local craft store and help the kids create hearts with two finger prints on it. Don’t forget to include the date on the canvas so that both Mom and child remember for a long time how tiny your little one’s fingers once were!

Handmade soap –

Handmade gifts are always special to parents. Help your little one make a bar of soap for Mom that she’ll cherish. Here’s an easy and safe way to make a bar of soap at home with the kids.

Supplies –
  • 1 lb block of olive oil soap
  • Muffin tins as molds
  • Turmeric powder, for color
  • Lemon and orange essential oils, for the flavor
  • Fresh orange
  • Zester
  • Wrapping paper and ribbons
  • Directions –
  • Smash the block of soap into tiny pieces and microwave for 30 seconds. You must remove it before it starts foaming over.
  • Remove from the heat and add a pinch of turmeric powder and stir well.
  • Add 2-4 drops of orange essential oil. Add 1 tsp of orange zest into the soap mix.
  • Pour the mix into the mold. Set for 45 minutes and freeze for 10 minutes more before peeling it off the mold.
  • Wrap in the pretty papers and ribbons and gift Mom!
  • Rocky Paperweights –

This is an ideal gift for a Mom who has to manage many important papers in a day – bills, invoices, letters, etc. Collect two big oval rocks from your garden and paint them red. Draw black spots akin to a ladybird and turn it into a fun paperweight gift on Mother's Day.

If you’re buying them the gift:

If you’re running behind time and the easiest way out is to buy Mom a gift – from your child – choose from the ideas below.

    Scarves –

These are a versatile piece of clothing that complements any look as formal as a suit or as casual as a spring dress. Chiffon scarves with paisley prints are a favorite with almost all women and are a safe bet to buy! Alternately, you can go for textured silk scarves in bright hues if you’re not sure if Mom loves prints.

    Notepads –

These are an essential must-have for any busy Mom. Even in the era of smart phones and tablets, a good old notepad with a smooth pen is a savior to Moms who need to write down just some of the zillion things that run in their heads. Look for specially made or custom notebook options with designs that fit Mom’s unique style.

    Aromatic candles –

They are known to help reduce levels of stress. Coming home to the smell of musky sandal or floral lavender is a stress buster in itself. Buy a few packs of aromatic candles for your child to gift Mom on Mother’s Day. There are plenty of options to choose from today. However, that the best gift you can give Mom is that of lots of time, love and attention. Go ahead and pamper her. She’ll love it!
