Super Mario Galaxy 2 – This new version of the immensely popular Super Mario Galaxy does not disappoint. It is an action platform game set in outer space. Every “galaxy” features a new type of environment with unique puzzles and challenges to overcome. Mario collects stars as he travels from one galaxy to the next, with over 200 stars to collect in all. Younger players may find some of the challenges rather difficult to solve, but a “play for me” option helps your kids get to the end of the level with a bronze star instead of the usual gold one in exchange for the help. Eggs, in some of the stages, can be smashed open to release Yoshi, Mario’s old buddy with special abilities. Mario’s ability to drill through planets and power-ups for Mario and Yoshi add more fun to the game.

Wii Party

The perfect Wii game to bring out when playing with friends, Wii Party features over 70 family-friendly mini games played as Mii characters. The ‘House Party’ games use the action on the screen to facilitate interactive gameplay in the living room! Examples are the ‘Hide and Go Seek’ game which involves searching for Wii remotes hidden around the house by one of the players and ‘Pass the Bomb’ which has players carefully passing the Wii remote around and trying not to be the one holding it when it blows up. In ‘Board Game Island’, the Mii characters play on an interactive game board that throws the players into various mini-games as part of the game. Multiplayer games are both cooperative and competitive, and require additional Wii Remotes to play.

Carnival Games – This family-friendly Wii game brings alive the Carnival scene with Carnival music, bright colors, wandering visitors and most importantly the fun Carnival Games. The game features over 20 mini-games, including classics like the Alley Ball, the Milk Bottle Throw, the Dunk Tank and the Ring Toss. There are over 250 carnival prizes to be won, and characters get to wear some of their prizes to personalize their in-game characters. The game is a big hit with both kids and adults as it does a brilliant job of recreating the carnival experience.

Kirby’s Epic Yarn

Kirby is back in a new and imaginative world made entirely of fabric and yarn. Kirby uses his new form to his advantage, attacking enemies with a yarn whip and using a string to latch on to objects and swing from them. The game features hidden levels that are unlocked by opening stray zippers or pulling on loose strings. On completing levels, players receive patches that are added to a tapestry to reveal new levels. Kirby can take on the shape of vehicles like trains, trucks and UFOs to deal with the challenges on hand. A co-op gameplay option allows two players to play together assisting each other throughout the game.

Mario Kart Wii – The reviews for Mario Kart Wii are overwhelmingly positive, both from players who have played the other Mario Kart games as well as those trying out the title for the first time. The Mario Kart Racing Wheel enhances gameplay and adds a whole new dimension to it, making the experience similar to playing a racing game in an arcade. Online racing allows up to 12 players to race together, with exciting tracks, fun Nintendo characters, cool vehicles and fantastic power-ups adding to the thrill of the chase. Players can also use the other controllers like the Nunchuk and the Classic Controller with this game.

Other Wii games that you should check out include Active Life Outdoor Challenge, Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga, Go Diego Go Safari Rescue, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
