Halloween Lanterns
Carving a jack o lantern is tough work, and certainly not meant for kids. But that's no reason to fret. This Halloween lantern can take the place of pumpkins, ghosts AND monsters! And it looks just as great! Better still, you don't need any adult help to make this pumpkin craft for kids.
What you will need:
- Colored sheets of A4 size paper (orange, white, green – depending on the designs you want to create)
- Pencil
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Glue/Stapler
What to do:
- Cut off a strip of paper breadthwise from one end of the sheet. This is going to be the handle.
- Draw a fun Halloween picture on your paper in pencil, and trace with the black marker.
- Fold the paper in half lengthwise.
- Make perpendicular slits along the length of the paper at equal intervals, cutting from the folded end and stopping about one inch before the opposite end.
- Unfold and loop the paper to make a lantern, keeping the drawing on the outside. Glue/staple the ends together.
- Glue/staple the handle to the inside of the top of the lantern.
- Hang the finished lanterns from a string to decorate any room. You might want to use tape to keep the lanterns in place.
Some fun ideas are jack o lantern faces on orange paper, ghosts, cobwebs and bats on white paper and Frankenstein and monsters on green paper.
