Soki-Coins are earned by playing the math games.
Class Cash is earned from teachers for good behavior.
Both Soki-Coins and Class Cash can be spent in the store by students to customize their avatar.
The green star in the student system is your student's rank. These green stars are called Soki-Stars. The more levels/content that your student plays and achieves, the more Soki-Stars he/she will earn. Also, by earning more Soki-Stars, your student will unlock more items to purchase in the Shopping area.
Medals are one way that students are rewarded for achievement inside of Sokikom's learning games! Students earn medals by getting personal high scores on Challenges, which are Sokikom’s equivalent of timed quizzes. Students can also look at the medals of their classmates and it serves as a means of friendly competition within the classroom.
Students can play Sokikom at the computer lab, at home, or anywhere they have a high bandwidth internet connection!
Sokikom is based online and in the browser so students can login from any computer, laptop, or other device that supports flash player. You can monitor the progress of your students no matter where and when they play.
Your students enjoy Sokikom - we want to help you make sure that they spend the most time learning math!
To help you do that, we've created time limits with pop-ups that help students return and focus on the areas where the most learning takes place after 5 minutes outside of math learning. Students can access all of Sokikom with no time limit before 7:00am and after 3:00pm.
If a student cannot complete a level then they should play the "Challenges", a multiplayer game, or prior levels from their progression. These will build fluency and help them spiral through prior concepts.
Also students can move to another domain(Operations to Geometry) and practice there.
Sokikom places students based on their achievement on the diagnostic placement, not their grade level. So, for example, in order for students to be placed into 5th and 6th grade content, all they have to do is take the placement test and get every question correct.
In order to do so, have students first log-in at https://www.jumpstart.com/academy-math/login/default.aspx.
Have students click on the domain that they wish to complete.
There are two ways students can manage their friends.
The first is on the sidebar of the game.
Students can access this at all times.
Clicking the "friends" icon on the bottom right of the sidebar switches the view from the students avatar and his/her friends list
There, students can see who is online and new friend requests they have.
To switch back to the avatar view students can click the "single person" icon.
The second way to access the friends feature is on the friend tab.
To get their students should click on the "friend" icon in the top right of the game.
There they can switch between friends and friend requests, determining which avatars will appear.
