To get to the adding a student page:

When making a class:
How do I add a class
Then click next step

After making a class:
Click on “Classes” at the top of the teacher Home Page, and select the class you want to add a student to

On the left side of the page, click on the words "Add Students"

Add a Student:
On the next page add your students.

You can type in the names or drag and drop a text file or CSV.

Then put them into boys and girls lists

To change a student's username/password:

      Click on “Classes” at the top of the teacher Home Page and select the class which contains the student you are changing info for
      On the left side of the page, click on the button "View Students" (see screenshot below)
      A list of students in your class will appear. To change any username or password, simply click on the username or password.(see second screenshiot below) (Also note you can set the same password for the entire class by clicking "Change All").
      When you're done with your changes, the system will update automatically!

To change your password first you need to click on the button in the top right corner with your name on it. (Make sure to exit the Behaviors screen if you are there).

Then select Settings.

Then make sure you are in the Profile tab and click the change password button(see screenshot).

Students can customize their avatars using Class Cash earned from classroom management, or using Soki-coins earned by playing math learning games.

To customize their avatar, a student should:

Log in at www.sokikom.com using their username and password

Click on the green shopping bag at the top-right of the screen

Inside of the shopping screen, change items by clicking on “Try”.

When finished customizing their avatar, click the “Save” button

To change the gender of the avatar for your students:

Click on "Classes" at the top of the Teacher Home Page, and select the class that has the students that need the gender of their avatar switched.

After choosing your class, click on "Manage Students" to find the students that need the gender of their avatar switched.

Find the student that needs their avatar changed and click on the tab to switch the gender of the avatar.

Click on "Change" to confirm the change the gender of the avatar.

This is what the changed account should look like now.

In our constantly evolving technology world, new mobile devices/updates are released every month - our goal is to strive for compatibility with all phones and tablet devices! Due to the constantly changing landscape, it is difficult for us to test the Sokikom experience on every new device.

Currently, the only devices with known issues that we DO NOT support are:

  • Windows mobile phones
  • Kindle Fire tablets

Frustrating, we know! This happens if there is an incorrect cookie stored in your browser cache

To resolve this:Delete the cache including cookies from your browser (usually contained in your browser section under the History, Tools, Options, or Preference menus)

If your school has a web filter or proxy then these urls need to be allowed for Sokikom to work.

Open TCP ports 80, 443 and 843 for all the above addresses.

Depending on your web proxy software, you might need to add "*" prefix to each URL.
Example: *.sokikom.com

Puffin Academy needs TCP ports opened for HTTP(80), HTTPS(443), and UDP port for DNS(53)

If you have other restrictions before the whitelist rules, Sokikom can still get blocked even after it has been whitelisted. If you use firewall rules to control traffic, always make sure the whitelist rules for Sokikom are executed before any blacklist-like rules.

Since firewall configurations are vendor/hardware/firmware specific, remember to consult firewall providers if you don't know how to do that.

To remove a student:

Click on “Classes” at the top of the teacher Home Page and select the class with the student you are trying to delete

On the left side of the page, click on the words "View Students"

A list of students in your class will appear. To delete a student, simplyclick on the grey box next to the student's name, underneath the Trash Bin or "Delete" column.

Confirm that you chose the correct student by clicking "yes"

When you're done with your changes, the system will update automatically!

This issue is usually caused by a loss of internet connection.

      Ensure that the computer is connected to the internet
      Visit https://www.sokikom.com/test_computer and click “Test Computer”
      If something in the “Requirements” section is red, you can take appropriate steps
      If all “Requirements” are green, click the “Test your speed” link and record the result.

Students earn Soki-coins by playing Sokikom’s math learning games. Students earn Class Cash for their good behaviors in class when teachers award behaviors from the "Give Behaviors" page.

Students can use both Soki-coins and Class Cash to shop for items and upgrade their avatar.

If the times that you see in "Behavior Reports" are incorrect, please check the Date and Time Settings on your computer (see below for screenshots on how to do this). You should check that the TIME ZONE is set to your correct time zone. To access the date and time settings on a PC, click on the clock as shown below:

Then click "Change date and time settings..."

It will open up the date and time dialogue, there it will indicate your time zone under "Time zone". Double check to see that it is in the correct time zone. If it's not in the same time zone, click on "Change time zone"

Lastly, the time zone dialogue will pop up, indicate the correct time zone by clicking on it and then click "OK".

If your date and time are still wrong then click on the" Change Date and Time" button in the Date and Time popup. You will need administrator access.

In the popup you can change the time in the red circle and change the date in the blue circle.

To access the date and time on a Mac, click on the time as show below:

"Why can't I transfer class cash when I click the transfer class cash button?"

This issue is commonly caused by your web browser being out of date. We highly recommend that you switch to Google Chrome or update to the latest version of your web browser.

If you gave out a lot of behaviors and were able to transfer class cash before, but it doesn't show up when you transfer class cash now, there may be a different reason to this problem:

To limit inflation in our virtual class cash economy (we've seen it happen quickly!) students can earn a maximum of 20 class cash per week. We want you to be able to give as many behaviors as possible, but we also want students to earn class cash slowly enough that they can buy items all throughout the year. This limit ensures that students who earn hundreds of behaviors in a short time period won't be able to buy all the items right away, so that Sokikom remains an effective tool for engagement and management all year long.

Other ways to ask:
I cannot send the class cash to students.

"I'm stuck on a pop up screen! It's blocking the page and I can't do anything!"

This is a common issue that is usually caused by having an outdated web browser. We highly recommend switching to Google Chrome, or updating your web browser to the latest version.

To change the audio and text of Sokikom from English to Spanish:

Click on "Classes" at the top of the Teacher Home Page, and select the class that has the students that need to be switched to Spanish

After choosing your class, click on "Manage Students" to find the students that you would like to switch to Spanish

Find the student that needs to have their language changed and click on the tab to switch the language to Spanish

To access Sokikom from a tablet or smartphone, please follow the steps below:

First, download the "Puffin Academy Browser" Free Application from your device's "App Store". Puffin Academy has a purple background and performs much better than the other applications.

After downloading Puffin, tap on "Puffin Academy Portal" to access the various games and applications in Puffin Academy

After tapping on "Puffin Academy Portal", tap on "Search" at the top right of the screen. Here, enter "Sokikom" to access Sokikom.

Now, tap on Sokikom at the bottom of the page. This will allow you to access Sokikom.

After tapping on Sokikom, tap "Install" to have an easy access point to Sokikom on the Puffin Academy Application Home Page.

After tapping on "Install", students can then access Sokikom and enter their username and password information.
