My daughter received the Jump Start 3D Virtual World My First Adventure game CD for Christmas. We installed it today and she began playing. Well, she visited all the buildings in the little circle and was finished visiting them quickly. We looked at the map that you can bring up on the screen and noticed there was only one bubble lit up that she could get to. How do you get to the rest? And how do you look at other books in the library? Do you have to purchase a subscription to it?
So I went ahead and purchased a subscription, figuring that's how she would be able to access the other areas. I purchased it, closed her out of her game, and then opened the game back up. She still cannot go anywhere else in the game.
What do I do? Did I need to buy a subscription? Or could she access those areas of the game some other way? I'm very confused right now.
I was just about writing this same question when I saw yours. I also bought the subscription and I wanted to add another concern of mine to your question.
How do we actually track our kids' progress on this program ( or can we ?0)
If you buy a subscription and the other lands do not open, did you use the same email and password combo when you bought the subscription as when you installed the game?
The only way I can check is for you to email me the email on the account to mike.bowman@adventure.com
Keep in mind that the lands open one at a time. You need to finish the super gem and the missions to move forward.
The true game part of the Beta is Story Land. Right now, there isn't a bunch to do when you are just in the world, collect some orbs, kick the ball, go swimming and explore, but the game portion is in the area Story Land.
We did our best to let customer’s know that Jumpstart world titles are basically subscription based titles. Most boxes have that explained on the inside front cover. The original CD has more content than we ever released in a game, even in the 4 CD packs. We wanted a game that could grow with the kids, and offer more content at a reasonable price tag, $7.99 a month. For that price you get access to all of the units on the original purchase, plus the ability to download a play any of the other 3 virtual worlds, as well as access to all of the units on our beta games and jumpstart.com.
There was no way we could keep putting out CD games, as the stores already limit “educational software” store shelf space.
As always, if you are not 100% satisfied, and you have only had the game for a month or so, I can always refund your money. The instructions for refunds are on the top of the box.
Alas, I am another father who has a disgruntled 2 1/2 year old daughter who has completed every game, every test, and is tired of going to her mailbox to see the same "prizes". She has resorted to using the game as a way of "checking out her wardrobe" in the section in which you choose your character - all the while complaining that she can't get to the next levels.
My wife bought the game as a Christmas present and had I known that it required a monthly subscription, I would never have let my daughter get a taste for it, since she now enjoys the educational aspects of the game however is frustrated with the lack of ability to truly advance - I'm not ready to teach the lesson to her on "money is required to get further in life - including this game".
Ok what a crock! Seriously. This is not the first jumpstart game I have bought. The first one I got was two years ago. The kids loved it. All three of them. I was so impressed with it that when Christmas rolled around I seen a NEW JUMPSTART CD GAME and was extremly excited that I didn't even think about it just threw it in the cart. I have done everything I could think of to get further in this virtual 3D world and now I see that you have set it up were we have to pay more money to play a game we have already paid for. Don't you think it is bad enough that even to play the game we have to have on line access? Come on! These are children and I have dial up so excuss me if I get a little upset and don't want my phone tied up so my child can play a game. Now you want more money for a game that (let's be real here) really isn't all that.
This is not the only learning game I have. And for the good parents in the world I am gonna give you a few titles. Of games that are not only hours of play but also you don't need INTERNET ACCESS OR A MONTHLY FEE!

Would you like my box and cd, it appears it slipped out without this notice. As di every single box we sold at my work (walmart) and every single box at every retailer in the entire town, and nearly every online store description.
Seriously, I would love to see one of these boxes that actually says it requires a subscription.
All you need do is play the game. These titles are not the same as the online world, for this title you need to follow the character's instructions as they lead you through the world.
You finish both the super gem and the missions for the next unit to open up.
