Introduction
Welcome to JumpStart Advanced Kindergarten-2nd Grade: Lost Island Training! As the newest explorer to arrive on Lost Island, you’ll have lots of fun as you make new friends, discover new places, and learn all kinds of new things. This manual shows you how.
Game Overview – How to Play
Trouble has come to Lost Island and its citizens are in desperate need of help. Their island has been taken over by pesky little creatures called Punk-Punks, which are turning their lives upside down. As you play you’ll earn pieces of your Explorer Badge by completing learning games and missions that teach you about being a good friend, helping others, and trying new things.
- Start your adventure from the sign in screen and choose what you will look like in the Jumpee Quick Change.
- Learn how to move around the world and meet all your new JumpStart friends.
- Play fun learning games in Hops’ Jet Pack where you will earn coins and pieces of your Explorer Badge.
- Complete learning missions by doing things for your JumpStart friends. Just click on the "?" (Question mark) button in the lower right corner of the screen if you ever need to know your mission.

Installing and Running
System Requirements
- 1.2 GHz CPU and above
- 3D video card with 64 MB dedicated memory
- 512 MB Dedicated RAM
- Mac OS X 10.6 or Higher
- 1.4 GB available on hard drive
- 16-bit color
- 800x600 screen resolution
Installing Lost Island Training
We highly recommended that you quit all applications before installing the game. To install the program:
- Download JumpStart Advanced K-2: Lost Island Training package from the Mac App Store.
- Open the downloads folder in your Mac.
- Double click on the JumpStart Advanced K-2: Lost Island Training package to start the installation.
- Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
Running JumpStart Advanced K-2: Lost Island Training
- Double click on the JSA Lost Island Training Icon on the desktop.
- You can also launch the program by selecting the Jumpstart Advanced K-2 folder in the Applications folder and double-clicking the JSA Lost Island Training application.
Uninstalling JumpStart Advanced K-2: Lost Island Training
- To uninstall the program, locate the Jumpstart Advanced K-2 folder in the Applications folder and move it to the trash.
Sign In
To begin your adventure:
- To sign in as a new player, click on the entry box at the top and type in your name.
- To select a name from the player list, scroll through the list and click on the name you want. The name will appear in the entry box.
- Once you’re ready to start your adventure, click on the check mark button.
- If you want to delete a name from the list, select the name you want to delete, then click on the trash can.
- If you want to quit the game, click on the Exit button (the door icon) at the lower left.

Moving Around in Lost Island Training
Navigating the Game
It’s easy to explore and have fun in Lost Island using the arrow keys on the keyboard:
- Press the up arrow key to move forward and the left and right arrow keys to move side to side. Press the down arrow key to slow down and move backwards.
- When the cursor is a speech bubble, you can click to talk to one of your friends.
- When the cursor is a hand, you can click on an object to interact with it or an area to go inside.
Main Game Interface

- Coin Counter: Displays the number of coins earned in the game.
- Jumpstart Communicator: Gives you information about the game and the current mission you are on.
- Camera Button: Opens your camera so you can take photos.
- Map Button: Opens the map so you can travel to other parts of MarineLand.
- Exit Arrow: Quits the game.
The JumpStart Communicator
The Jumpstart Communicator gives you information about your game progress. It contains help for your current mission and quick links to Hops’ Jet Pack, your Inventory, Stores, and your Badge Progress.

The Camera
The camera lets you take pictures of things in AdventureLand.

- Click on the camera button at the lower right of the JumpStart screen.
- Use the arrow buttons on the sides of the screen to move the camera viewfinder.
- Click on the + and – buttons to zoom the camera in and out.
- Press the spacebar to take a photo.
- To exit the camera without taking a picture, click on the arrow button in the lower left corner.
Photo Gallery
You can save your photo if you like it, or throw it in the trash can and take another one.

- Click on an empty frame to save your photo.
- To delete a photo, click on the photo, then click on the trash can.
You can view and use your photos in places like the Art Studio or on Billboards.
Hops’ Jet Pack Learning Game
In Hops’ Jet Pack, you’ll learn lots of new things and sharpen your skills, while you earn coins to customize your world.
Lesson Menu

Before you can start flying, you’ll need to make a few selections.
- First select a subject.
- When you select the subject you want to play, the lessons for that subject will appear. To see more lessons click on the scroll arrows.
- Choose the lesson by clicking on the name.
- Now select the Curriculum Level to play.
- Level 1- Recommended for children ages 4-6.
- Level 2- Recommended for children ages 5-7.
- Level 3- Recommended for children ages 6-8.
- Finally, select the game play level.
- Every time you complete a lesson, you will earn coins to spend around the world.
Hops’ Jet Pack
Strap on your jet pack and fly around the cave zapping incorrect answers.

- Listen to the question to figure out the answer you’re looking for. Click the speaker button to hear the question again.
- Use the arrow keys to steer the jetpack around the cave.
- Fly through the correct answers.
- Zap the incorrect answers by pressing the spacebar.
- For bonus points, fly through the floating satellites.
- If you fly through the incorrect answer or zap the right answer you will lose a life.
- If you lose 3 lives, all the incorrect answers will disappear and you will get less points for the stage.
- Complete all stages to complete the lesson.
Finishing a Game

When you have completed all the stages, the dialog box shown above will show you the points you received for completing the stage. Click the OK button to see how many coins you earned for that lesson, then click the OK button again to return to the Lesson Menu.
Training Island
You’ll start your adventure on Training Island! Here you will be put through a fast-paced boot camp that will show you the ropes before you set sail to Lost Island. Here are some important places:

Jumpee Quick Change Training Crate

The first step in becoming a great explorer is to look like one. You can update your look anytime by going to the training crate with the clothes on it.
Click on the crate to get started.

Hats: Click on the Hat button, then click on a hat to try it on.
Hairstyles: Click on the Hair button, then click on a hairstyle to see what it will look like on you.
Heads: Click on the Heads button, then click on the face shape to see what it will look like on you.
Tops: Click on the Tops button, then click on a top to try it on.
Bottoms: Click on the Bottoms button, then click on a pair of pants, shorts, or a skirt to try it on.
Shoes: Click on the Shoes button, then click on a pair of shoes to try them on.
Swim Tail: Click on the Swim Tail button, then click on the swim tail you earned in Lost Island Quest to wear it while you’re swimming.
Flight Suit: Click on the Flight Suit button, then click on the flight suit to try it on.
Eyes: Click on the Eyes button, then click on the eyes to change your eye shape and color.
Mouths: Click on the Mouths button, then click on different mouths to change your mouth shape and color.
Skin Color: Click on the Skin Color button, then click on the colors to change your skin color.
- Use the left and right arrows at the bottom of the menu to see all of the selections.
- Use the left and right arrows below your character to see yourself from different angles.
- Click the Exit button to leave the Jumpee Quick Change.
Foot Frenzy Training Crate
Explorers also need to be quick on their feet. You can show off your best dance moves by going to the training crate with the dancing shoes on it.
Click on the crate to get started.
Before you can start dancing, you’ll need to make a few selections.

- First select the song you want to dance to. To see more songs, click on the scroll arrows.
- Then select the game play level you want to play.
- Select Start when you’re ready to go.

- Watch the arrows moving up the screen.
- Press the same arrow key on the keyboard that matches the moving arrow when it enters the target area.
- The meter shows you how well you’re doing. When the meter gets below the red area the song will stop and you will have to try the song again.
Hops’ Jet Pack Training Crate

To be a great explorer, you’ll need to be able to think on your feet. Boost your brain power by going to the crate with the blue jetpack on it.
Click on the Crate to get started. To know more go to Learning Games
Art Studio Training Crate

Creative thinking is also a necessary part of being an explorer. Fine tune your art skills by going to the crate with the painting floating above it.
Click on the Crate to get started.
The Art Studio lets you make pictures that you can put on Billboards to decorate your world. Return as often as you like and make as many pictures as you like.

Click this button, then click on the picture you’d like to color. |

Painting Tools
Paint with tools!
- You can free paint with the paint brush or spray bottle, or fill big areas of your picture with a paint can.
- Click on a tool, then click the colored squares to pick a color.
- Apply the color to your drawing by clicking where you want the paint to appear.

Patterns
Click on this button, then click on the pattern you want. Once you have chosen a pattern, click on the drawing to add the pattern to the picture. |

Stickers
Choose a sticker by clicking on it, then click on the picture to place it. To erase stickers, click on the eraser, then click on the sticker you want to remove. |

Photos
You can add photos you’ve taken in StoryLand to your picture.

Select the photo you want to add to your picture, then click on the small, medium, or large photo button at the bottom of the screen to change the size of your photo.
- Click on the picture to place the photo.
- To remove a photo, click on the eraser, then click on the photo.

House Training Crate

Every great explorer needs a place to call home. Go to the training crate with a house on top.
Click on the crate to get started.

Foundations: Click on the Foundations button, then click on a foundation to change it on your house.
Walls: Click on the Walls button, then click on a wall to change it on your house.
Roofs: Click on the Roofs button, then click on a roof to change it on your house.
Doors: Click on the Doors button, then click on a door to change it on your house.
Windows: Click on the Windows button, then click on a window to change all the windows on your house.
Stairs: Click on the Stairs button, then click on a stairway to change it on your house.
Chimneys: Click on the Chimneys button, then click on a chimney to change it on your house.
Wallpaper: Click on the Wallpaper button, then click on a wallpaper style to change all the walls on your house.
Trim: Click on the Trim button, then click on a trim style for the whole house.
Glass: Click on the Glass button, then click on the glass type that you want to appear in all the windows on your house.
Decoration Spots
There are decoration spots all over the island where you can put the decorations you purchased from The General Goods Store inside Isabella’s Traveling Cart.

- First, click on a decoration spot.
- In the menu on the left, click on a decoration you’ve purchased to pick it up.
- Click on the scroll arrows in the menu to see more decorations you can use.
- Click on the decoration spot where you want to put the decoration to set it down.
- To pick up a decoration you have already placed, click on it, then click anywhere in the menu on the left to put it away.
- Click on the Help button to hear the instructions.
- Click on the back arrow to leave the decoration spot.
Billboards
There are billboards around the island where you can display the pictures you make in the Art Studio and photos you take in Lost Island.

- To add a picture or photo, click on the Billboard. All your pictures will appear in the menu on the left.
- Click on the buttons at the top of the menu to see your selections from your in-game camera or pictures from the Art Studio.
- To add a picture to the Billboard, click on the picture you want, then click on the billboard.
- If you have lots of pictures saved, use the scroll arrows to see all the pictures in a category.
- Click on the back arrow to leave the Billboard.
Base Camp
Once you complete your training on Training Island, you’ll board the ship to Lost Island. The first port on the island is Base Camp. Here are some important places:
Your House

This is Home Sweet Home here at Lost Island. You can update the look of your house anytime with the parts you purchase in the Home Depot store inside Isabella’s Traveling Cart.
Jumpee Quick Change

The Jumpee Quick Change lets you change the way you look in Lost Island. You can come back at any time to update your Jumpee’s look with items you’ve purchased in the Jumpee Mart inside Isabella’s Traveling Cart.
Jukeboxes
You can play music CDs that you purchase from The General Goods store inside Isabella’s Traveling Cart in jukeboxes throughout Lost Island.

- To add music, click on the jukebox. The CDs you have purchased will appear in the menu.
- To add a CD, click on it, then click on the jukebox.
- To turn the music off, click on the jukebox, then click in your menu to put the CD back.
- If you have purchased lots of CDs, use the left and right arrows to see them all.
- Click the back arrow button to exit the jukebox.
Planters
You can plant seeds in planters, water them, and watch them grow into flowers. To grow a flower, just click on a planter.

Click this button to see what flower seeds you can plant. Use the scroll arrows at the bottom of the menu to see all the seeds.
- Click a flower seed pack on the menu to select it. Click on a planter to plant the seed you chose.
- After you've put a seed in the planter, click on the watering can, and then click on the seed to water it.

If you want to grow a different flower in the same planter, just select a new seed and add it to the planter by clicking on it. The flower you already grew will now go back into the flower menu so you can plant it somewhere else.
- You can also remove a flower from a planter by clicking on it, then clicking the menu.
- Click the back arrow button to exit the planter.
Lost Shores
In Lost Shores, you’ll find Foot Frenzy, the Art Studio, Isabella’s Traveling Cart, and The Bell Tower.

Foot Frenzy
Any time you feel like dancing, go to Foot Frenzy in Lost Shores and show off your best moves!
Art Studio
Get your creative juices flowing, head to the Art Studio anytime you want to make a masterpiece.
Bell Tower/Frankie’s Calendar
Frankie needs help from time to time updating his calendar. Click on the Bell Tower in the middle of town to get started.
First, finish the calendar by adding the missing dates and days of the week:

Click a day or date in the list at the right, then drag it to the right place on the calendar and click to place it there.
- You can click the day or date again to move it to a different place, or move it back to the list.
- To replace a day or date with another one, drag the new one over the old one and click. The new day or date will drop into place, and the old one will be stuck to your cursor.
- Click the up and down arrows on the list to see more days and dates.
- Roll your cursor over a day or date to hear its name.
- When you’ve finished placing all the days and dates, click the check mark button.
Now help Frankie plan his schedule by adding stickers to the calendar:

Frankie will tell you which activities he is doing that month and ask you to put stickers on his calendar. Click the speaker button to hear the clue again.
- Find the sticker Frankie wants in the list at the right. Click the sticker and drag it to the right place on the calendar, then click to place it there.
- You can click the sticker again to move it to a different place, or move it back to the list.
- To replace a sticker with another one, drag the new one to the place, and click. The new sticker will drop into place, and the old one will be stuck to your cursor.
- Click the up and down arrows on the list to see more stickers. Roll your cursor over a sticker to hear its name.
- When you’ve placed the stickers Frankie asks for, click the check mark button.
Isabella’s Traveling Cart
Isabella’s Traveling Cart is the place to go shopping on Lost Island. Inside Isabella’s is the General Goods Store, The Jumpee Mart and the House Depot. In the General Goods Store, you can buy plant seeds, decorations, and Music CD’s. The Jumpee Mart has all the new fashions and accessories for your Jumpee to wear. And the House Depot has tons of parts to update your house and make it look just the way you like.
Mystic Mountain
Overlooking Lost Shores is Mystic Mountain, the home to Hops’ Jet Pack, which contains many of the islands mysteries.
Hops’ Jet Pack
Go to Hops Jet pack to play learning games that will reward you with coins that you can use to update your house, style your jumpee, and decorate the island.
Punk-Punk Valley
The entrance to the hidden Punk-Punk Valley has never been found. Use your explorer skills to be the first to find it and uncover the secrets it contains.
Shortcut-o-matic five-thousand and...one

Hops has made a handy new invention called the Shortcut-o-matic five-thousand and one. These special rabbit tunnels will let you move quickly around the island. All you need to do is power it up by putting the picture back in order.
